Poor communication and service:
We were advised to contact this company for Perito Moreno Glacier minitrekking by our air b n b host. We contacted them on WhatsApp as advised and their communication wasn’t great but we agreed in both English and Spanish (
because their communication in English was poor we wanted to be sure) that we could give our names, passport numbers etc over WhatsApp to reserve our spaces then pay by card on arrival to El Calafate the following day. They didn’t have an online payment method. We went to their office as arranged, I explained we were there to pay and the lady who spoke to us was rude and dismissive, and in no way tried to apologise or explain how one of her colleagues had agreed to let us reserve and pay on arrival (in writing no less). When I tried to show her to he messages from her company on my phone to help explain she refused to look at them.
They had some other dates available but no transport, despite the port being 70km away. Their manner was so poor we decided not to book with them at all before we even had an alternative.
Basically the only company that do the actual minitrekking tours are called Hielo y Adventura and the other companies sell their spaces and arrange transport. We went to various other places on the street who were much more helpful even if they had no availability, but we found a place called Patagonia Chic to book our tour with instead who were polite and professional. Wouldn’t recommend a visit to this company.
They were so helpful!
I booked a minitrekking with a different organisation without transfer to the park, so I had to find my own transfer. Went to every agency in town, and they were the only one agreeing to taking me there and even for a fair price (taxis rip you off). During the trip, they planned everything around me because I was on a different schedule than the others, and they did. Therefore I was also able to see the whole park in the day, because of them. The guide was so nice too, forgot her name sadly!
I don't recommend them. They kind of screwed me...went to the agency the night before to arrange a tour to the glacier. The lady that was there acted like I was bothering her by asking about the tour. (She said she did not speak English, which was ok, but working in a tourist agency you really should know a little)She said that they only accept cash, had me fill out a form with my contact info, and said to be back at 8AM the next morning to pay and go on the tour. I was there before 8AM the next day, no one was there at the office. Waited a while, still no one, ended up calling their "emergency number" and they said, "oh yeah, we don't have any tickets for the tour today. You will have to go somewhere else." They could have at least contacted me and told me in advance, instead of me waiting around like a fool in front of their office at 8AM for them not to show up..
